A good service agent does not try to answer everything. Define three categories: verified knowledge that can be answered, details that can be gathered for a form or ticket, and matters requiring human handoff. Billing, cancellation, personal data, unusual complaint, or professional question need rules preventing overconfident answers.

The agent says when it does not know, asks for minimum identifier, and links the enquiry to a case. Answers rely on a knowledge base with owner and update date, not conversation memory alone. Every handoff includes summary, customer intent, and action history without assuming facts not supplied.

Measure correct resolution, handoffs, corrections, and conversations where the customer sought clarification. AI increases availability; it does not manage a commitment, give advice, or make a financial decision.
