An AI agent’s cost is not only model price. It includes development, system connections, storage, monitoring, knowledge base, tests, representative time for handoffs and answer correction, and sometimes channel costs such as messages or telephony. Without measurement, a saving can become moving work from service staff to quality control.
Build a model with enquiry volume, resolution rate, handoff rate, human handling cost, incident cost, variable usage cost, and fixed cost. Use internal ranges and explicit assumptions, not one number presented as certainty. A small change in volume or conversation length can change real cost.
Start with a pilot with quality and cost measures, and set a stopping point if the agent creates harm or workload. Provider pricing changes, so check official source before a decision rather than using an old presentation price.
