VAT and Advance-Tax Reporting: Building an Automated Deadline Calendar for a Small Business

A good deadline calendar is more than a monthly phone reminder. It joins the due date, reporting type, data period, missing documents, and accountable owner. The Israel Tax Authority provides an online VAT reporting and payment service. Dates and instructions can change, so they should not be hard-coded without an update and review method.

What automation should do

The system can create a task for each period, request missing documents, mark “ready for review,” and alert only the responsible person. It should not submit a report or determine tax liability from incomplete data.

Each task should retain period, action type, due date configured from a current source, document links, preparation status, reviewer, and completion approval. When a date changes, change it in one place and generate updated alerts without deleting the evidence of completed work.

This design reduces the “someone thought someone else would submit” failure while leaving tax decisions and final approval with the authorized professional.
