A shipment created from an order system should retain a snapshot of the order at creation time. An address or phone number the customer changes later is not necessarily a change that can be passed through without checking carrier policy and package status.
Build a shipment screen with source data, package data, selected service, tracking number, and event log. When the system receives an external status, retain both the raw provider value and its translation into an internal status so staff do not mix supplier terminology.
The important test is the change path: what happens with partial address, no customer response, and a returning order that must reach warehouse, credit, or resend. Then shipping automation does more than print labels: it closes the operational loop.
