Selecting a pickup point is a customer experience, but for the system it is also a fixed delivery datum.
Selecting a pickup point is a customer experience, but for the system it is also a fixed delivery datum. Do not store only free text such as “near the supermarket.” Retain point ID, display name, address, delivery provider, and selection time.
At checkout, begin from address or area and show only points that fit the chosen service. After selection, store the point ID and do not attempt to rematch it on every order transmission. If the point is no longer available, ask the customer to select again rather than silently replacing it with a distant location.
Test split orders too. When some items can ship and others only collect, the customer must understand this before payment and the system must create two clear fulfilment paths.
