A Supplier Has No API: Legal and Operational Alternatives Before Screen Automation

No API is not necessarily the end of automation, but neither is it permission to imitate a user without review.

No API is not necessarily the end of automation, but neither is it permission to imitate a user without review. Check scheduled export, CSV, feed, email report, authorised portal, documented private API, or supplier agreement first. Assess each alternative for terms of use, security, stability, and ownership.

Screen automation is usually last choice because a small screen change can break it. If considered, use it only with appropriate authorisation, limited service account, logs, MFA handling, monitoring, and exceptions queue. Do not bypass CAPTCHA, restrictions, or permissions.

Sometimes the right answer is process change: daily intake of an approved file instead of real-time sync. That can be cheaper, more reliable, and more respectful than pretending an interface exists.
