An automation can look green yet fail to complete the business action. It may receive a webhook, create an intermediate record, and fail while sending an invoice; it may also technically succeed with a blank field. A Zapier or Make run history is not a business control.
Define a completion measure for every workflow: a paid order receives an internal number, the customer receives confirmation, and a document is created when required. Every few minutes, compare source and destination by order identifier, not by timestamp. Each mismatch enters an exceptions queue with an owner, failure reason, attempt count, and a decision to retry or handle manually.
Alert separately on zero orders for an unusual period, rising rejections, and an event waiting too long. Those reveal configuration failure, load, and bad data respectively. The team then finds the failure before a customer writes that the order was not received.
