A commission report is not profit simply because it contains an amount. To reconcile a commission, retain policy ID, client, product, agent, start date, payment, commission rate or rule, and cancellation or renewal state. Without them, missing commissions and reversals look like a small difference.

Define an expectation table created from an agreed event and an actual-received table. Reconciliation shows matches, missing amounts, excesses, and records requiring investigation. Do not infer a commission rate when terms change; retain the rule version and source document.

This process supports operational control. It does not advise on product, coverage, or insurance law. Insured-person data and documents must be protected and access-limited.
